The event that stood out the most to me during my clinical experience this month was when my assigned patient and her family began asking questions about the care the patient was receiving and other non-medical related questions.

Look Back The past weeks at my clinical were memorable and exciting, I was exposed to many learning opportunities, which I took advantage of. Clinical was my favorite part of last semester, and it is still my favorite part of the semester. Over the past couple of weeks at Riverside, I have had numerous new. My overall experience of this clinical was great. I got to feed a baby, take the temperature, and watch how a newborn is bathed.
In the NICU I noticed that there was a lot of work. The nurse that I was with had three patients to take care of. One of the patients was premature, had an NG tube, his face was disfigured, and he was angry. The nurse always had to check on him because one of the machines started to beep or she had to prepare the feeding for the infant.
It was overwhelming to see an infant. inadequate access to healthcare and failing patient-physician relationships. However, this past year of personal interactions with patients has also shown me the importance of authenticity and passion in the art of medicine.
